Description
The Church Room is a chapel of ease built in 1891. It is constructed from cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings and features a plain clay tile roof with overhanging gables. Designed in a 15th-century style, the building has an east annexe and a north porch, with three bays on the north elevation. The outer bays contain three-light cusped ogee arched flat-headed windows, while the center bay has a projecting porch with a moulded pointed arch doorway and a small lancet window above. The east side features a two-light segmental arched window, and there is a matching single-light west window, above which is a small bell on a wooden frame, protected by an extension of the main roof. Inside, the church room has an open timber roof and an altar in the east recess, which is under a simple moulded pointed arch and has a good pair of wrought iron double fold gates. There is a small octagonal font against the north wall and a segmental arched fireplace in the south wall with a dedication plaque above, showcasing good detailing. The building occupies a prominent position in the center of an attractive hamlet.
