Description

Welham's Mill House is a 17th-century mill house constructed from coursed rubble of Ham stone with ashlar dressings. It features a plain clay tiled roof that has coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building stands two storeys high with a two-bay south-west elevation facing away from the road. The windows are ovolo-moulded mullioned types, with three lights, except for the lower bay which has four lights. Some of the windows include iron-framed opening lights. Between the bays, there is a chamfered cambered-arched doorway with a boarded door, and the lintel is carved with "MMW 183," likely indicating a reshaping or re-roofing that replaced a thatched roof. There is an additional mullioned window on the first floor of the south gable. The house has an outshut and a further extension on the north-east side. The interior has not been seen. Attached to the west corner is Welham's Mill, which has now been converted into another house.
