Description
Bremhilham Mill House is a 17th-century mill house constructed from coursed limestone rubble, featuring a gabled double Roman tile roof and a stone stack on the left end. The building has a two-unit plan, is one storey high with an attic, and has two windows on the front. A timber lintel spans a 19th-century beaded plank door at the center, which is flanked by two 17th-century chamfered stone-mullioned windows, each with two lights. The first floor of each gable end also has similar windows, one of which includes 19th-century iron casements. There are later additions, including a rear left outshut and a mid-20th-century brick outshut on the right. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have an open fireplace with a chamfered bressummer, plain beams, and an A-frame roof with chamfered butt purlins. The mill itself dates back to at least the mid-16th century, with milling operations ceasing in the late 19th century; the mill buildings were demolished after 1945.
