Description
Hyam Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely has an 18th-century core, with additions and alterations made in 1922 and 1927, as indicated by the dates on the west gable and east rainwater heads. The building is constructed of squared and coursed rubble, featuring blocked ashlar dressings, flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, and hipped stone slate roofs, with ashlar stacks at the ends. It has a U-shaped plan, with the main range at the center and later additions at the rear: the 1922 addition to the south-west and the 1927 addition to the south-east. The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics, showcasing 3-light chamfered mullion windows in the 1927 addition, small leaded pane casement windows in the core range, and additional scattered chamfered mullion windows on the north front of the core range. There are gabled dormers on all ranges. The east front features a doorway centrally located in the end wall of the core range, which has a flat hood supported by carved brackets and a part-glazed door. The main entrance is now on the west side, through the 1922 extension. The interior is not accessible.
