Description
Welham's Mill is a former mill that has been converted into a house, likely dating from the 17th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble made of Ham stone, with ashlar quoins. The roof is plain clay tiles over stone slate base courses, featuring stepped coped gables, while an extension has a roof covered with clay pantiles. The main block is two storeys high with an attic and consists of four bays. It has horizontal-bar casement windows with two lights, and a large casement window in the lower bay four, which is located under an arched timber lintel that marks the site of the former water wheel. There is also a doorway in an early stone and tiled porch at lower bay three. To the north-east gable, there is a three-bay extension that is set lower than the main block. Inside, some of the timber beam framework remains, along with the original collar trusses in the roof. There are traces of ashlar-lined corn bins in the attic, as well as several ladder stairs leading to this level.
