Description
Chapel House is the end house of a row, incorporating a shop, and dates from the 18th century or earlier. It is constructed of local lias stone that is cut and squared, with a roof covered in clay pantiles featuring abutment and plain gables, and a brick chimney stack. The building has two storeys and a single bay. Above, there is a pair of linked 16-pane sash windows set under a timber lintel. Below, there is a plain shop window with a slightly segmental arched head made of voussoirs, and a glazed door to the right that is positioned under a dovetailed stone lintel. The east gable is rendered. At the rear, there is an extension that features a three-light hollow chamfered mullioned window with a label, which includes internal vertical iron bars, and one leaded light. The interior was not seen as the premises were unoccupied in June 1984. Chapel House is part of a varied row that contributes positively to the streetscape.
