Description
Corner Cottages are a pair of mid-19th century cottages designed by T H Wyatt. They are constructed from coursed rubble with flush dressed quoins and have a rendered first floor. The cottages feature a two-level tile roof that is hipped to the right, with a central dressed stone and rubble stack, and a similar projecting stack to the left of the frontage. The design is picturesque, consisting of one storey and an attic, with a symmetrical arrangement of bays. The first-floor bays are located in gabled dormers and have casement windows, some of which retain leaded lights on the left side. The ground floor has four-light stone mullioned windows with stopped labels, and each cottage has a door opening framed by a plain stone surround, featuring plank doors. There is also a two-light stone mullioned window on the left return and a further rubble stack at the rear. The cottages are part of the Orchardlea estate.
