Description

Octagon Cottages are a pair of estate cottages built in 1801 by Samuel Wyatt. They are designed in the shape of an octagon and constructed from gault brick with a slate roof. The cottages are two storeys high and feature a central octagonal chimney stack. The sash windows have glazing bars and there are rubbed arches above the ground floor openings. Each facade includes a tripartite casement with glazing bars set in a segmental-headed recess. There is a half-glazed entrance door on the left side, which is likely a later addition. The cottages were intended to be an interesting architectural feature when viewed from within Holkham Park.
