Description
The barn at the south entrance to the churchyard of the Church of St Mary, formerly known as the Tithe Barn at Hall Farm, is a 17th-century structure. It is built from red sandstone random rubble and features a corrugated iron roof. The barn has double doors and a small door on the right, which is accessed by a short flight of steps. There are four raking buttresses, which were largely overgrown with ivy at the time of the survey in November 1983. Inside, the barn contains seven pairs of jointed cruck trusses, some of which have arch bracing. The left end of the barn once housed a raised platform with a shaft drive for a threshing machine.
