Description

No 1 Improvement Place is a mid-19th century, two-storey cottage located on the corner with Martins Close, and it is the last surviving cottage of its kind at the end of a terrace. The front is finished in stucco with incised coursing detail, and it has a hipped tile roof with a dormer facing south. The eaves project outwards, and there is one window with an incised lintel on each storey, featuring sashes with thin glazing bars. The doorway is positioned to the left of the front and includes an open pediment supported by pilasters, a round-headed fanlight, and a six-panel door. Additionally, there is a lean-to extension on the south side that projects into the lane.
