ST3308 HOLYROOD STREET 756-1/4/147 (East side) 29/07/76 Railings and piers to forecourt of Baptist Church

GV II

Railings and piers to Baptist Church of 1842. Central double gates, on plain rough ashlar piers with plain coping; between matching railings which extend across the width of the forecourt. These have cast-iron moulding coping to a low stone plinth. Substantial square balusters with moulded bases support a moulded rail, alternate ones have stylized anthemion finials. To far left and right are tall cast-iron trellises with cornices surmounted by anthemions enclosed in semi-circular arches. Below is a pattern of scrolls, circles and anthemiae.
