Description
Simon's Holt Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with an addition from the 18th century. It is constructed of rendered cob and random rubble, featuring a slate roof on the right-hand block and Bridgwater patents on the slightly higher and steeper left-hand block. The layout includes a cross passage with a hall to the left, an 18th-century room beyond, and a kitchen to the right. There is external access only to the cider house, with a storage room located between. At the rear, there is an outshut. The building has two storeys and a façade with two bays on one side and three on the other, with windows that are irregularly placed, mostly consisting of 20th-century casements. The entrance is located to the right of the tiled block, featuring a coursed rubble porch with a double Roman tiled roof. There is also an entrance to the cider house with a wooden lintel to the right. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered beams with stops, and the 18th-century addition includes bolection moulding above the fireplace, flanked by shell-headed niches, one of which has been removed.
