Description
Rose Cottage and Tanglewood Cottage are two cottages that have been divided, dating back to 1583, with alterations made in the 19th century. The cottages are constructed of painted rubble and feature a slate roof, with the right half of Rose Cottage having a bitumenized finish. They stand two storeys high and have a total of five bays, arranged in a 3:2 configuration. The windows are wooden casements, and Tanglewood Cottage has gabled and slate-hung windows that extend through the eaves. The original entrance is round-headed and located at the center, with an early 20th-century door to the right leading to a gabled wooden porch. Above a buttress on Tanglewood Cottage, there is a square tablet that displays a cartouche with insignia, including a rose and thistle, and is dated 1583.
