Pair Cottages About 80 Metres North Of Stapleton Manor

This is a pair of cottages located about 80 meters north of Stapleton Manor, dating from the 17th to 18th centuries, with possible alterations in the 19th century. The cottages are constructed from cut and squared ham stone and feature a half-hipped thatched roof with a central brick chimney stack. They are two storeys high with an irregular but symmetrical façade.

On the ground floor, there are hollow chamfered mullioned windows, including two four-light windows in the center—one set in a wave mould recess and the other in a plain recess. Flanking these are single-light moulded windows, with boarded doors in plain openings between each window. The upper floor has three-light rectangular leaded casement windows with iron-framed opening lights, positioned above a cill band course that runs almost over the doors, and a pair of staple light windows in the center. There is also a lean-to structure against the south gable. The interiors have not been seen.
