Description
Suddon House is a house that likely dates from the 18th century and has undergone some modifications. It is constructed of local stone rubble, rendered on the south elevation, and features a plain clay tile roof with coped gables, while the projection on the south elevation is hipped. The house has stone, brick, and rendered chimney stacks. It has an 'E'-plan layout with a rear addition and stands two stories tall with an attic, comprising seven bays.
The projecting bays 1, 4, and 7 contain 16-pane sash windows with architraved surrounds. Bay 2 features French doors beneath an elliptical keystoned arch with imposts, above which is a 12-pane sash window. Bay 3 has a 16-pane sash window below and two 8-pane sashes above. Bay 5 includes a small door with a fanlight to the left, followed by 16-pane sashes on both levels. Bay 6 has only an 8-pane sash window below. There are hipped dormer windows in bays 4 and 6.
As of January 1984, the house was unoccupied and appears to have been remodeled at the rear and internally in the 1920s.
