Description

Dial House is a house dated 1690, though it was substantially refronted in the 18th century. The south elevation is of local stone, rendered and colourwashed, with some ashlar detailing; the roof is of undulating plain clay tiles with coped gables and brick chimney stacks topped with moulded stone caps. The house is two storeys with attics, and comprises five bays. It incorporates a plinth and an eaves cornice, with rusticated quoins. The ground floor has 12-pane sash windows within architraved surrounds; the upper bay 2 is blind. Bay 3 features a 6-panel door, partially glazed, in a timber architrave, and carries angled first-floor bay windows of 1-2-1 units of 12-pane sashes supported by stone Doric columns and pilasters, with a lead flat roof. An extension exists at the rear. A brick house to the northwest is not included in the listing. The interior has not been inspected.
