Description
Four Gables is a cottage dating from the 15th century, with alterations from the 17th century and significant external changes in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and features a pantile roof with two brick stacks. It has a cross passage plan and is one storey with an attic, comprising four bays. The windows are casements with glazing bars; those on the ground floor are set under wooden lintels, while the first-floor windows are located in half dormers. There is a door opening in the third bay, which contains a 19th-century studded plank door with a larger wooden lintel above. The roof structure is post and truss, and a 15th-century cruck truss is still visible. The forecourt is enclosed by a rubble wall.
