Description
First World War memorial obelisk of 1920s date, with later additions for the Second World War, set within a garden of remembrance.
MATERIALS: constructed of stone.
DESCRIPTION: the memorial is an obelisk, square on plan, with a tapering shaft mounted on a tall tapering plinth with moulded panels and a shallow base. The top of the front face of the shaft has a wreath emblem and LEST WE/ FORGET in relief. The plinth front face is inscribed: IN/ GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ (Names)/ 1939 (Name) 1945. The left and right faces are inscribed: ROLL OF HONOUR/ (Names). It stands within a paved garden of remembrance with a rubble stone front wall with iron gate, and an iron railed fence to the rear.
