Description

This is a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century, possibly modified in the early 19th century. They are built from local lias stone coursed rubble. The more westerly cottage features a double Roman clay tile roof supported by abutments, while the easterly cottage has a clay pantile roof with a coped east gable. Both cottages are two storeys high; the west cottage has two bays, and the east cottage has a single bay.

The cottages have 2-light small-pane casement windows, with stone lintels above the lower windows and timber lintels above the upper ones. The west cottage has a boarded door in an old frame, and a piece of Doulting stone inscribed with 'C/SE/1723'. The east cottage features a six-flush-panel door set in a recess to the left of the window. There is a single-storey lean-to with brick infill against the east gable of the east cottage. At the rear of the west cottage, a closet lean-to straddles a stream. The interior has not been seen but is likely little altered.

The front boundary wall between the cottages is a large stone plank wall. Attached to the west gable of the west cottage is a larger house that is not of special interest.
