Description
The Kings Arms Inn is an 18th-century inn that was refronted in the 19th century. It features a facade made of ham stone ashlar, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear, and a Welsh slate roof between stepped coped gables, along with brick end chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays. It has hollow-chamfer mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, with rectangular-leaded 4-centre arched lights; the first bay has four lights, the second bay has two lights, and the third bay features a projecting angled bay with a configuration of 1+4+1 lights on both levels. This third bay includes king mullions and a string course over the lower window, topped with a lead-covered flat roof. To the right of the second bay is a cambered-arched doorway with a deep label, leading up three steps to a 20th-century door, with a projecting sign above it. The rear of the building has 20th-century extensions, and the interior has been significantly altered. The inn has been known by this name since at least 1780.
