Description
Derry Mount is a house located 90 metres west of Prospect Place, possibly dating from the 18th century but refronted in the early 19th century. It is constructed of local stone rubble and has a rendered front elevation. The roof is covered with plain clay tiles and features simple gables, along with brick chimney stacks at each end. The house is two storeys high and has three bays, with 16-pane sash windows set in plain openings. The central entrance has a four-panel door and is sheltered by a 19th-century wood lattice-work porch topped with a bell-hip metal roof. There is an outshut at the rear. The railings, made of cast iron, have 'bud' heads and curved returns at each end, resting on ashlar piers with pyramidal tops. There are also wooden posts in the centre for a later gate. The interior has not been seen.
