Description
Cobblestones Public House is a public house built in the late 18th century. It features painted brick with painted stone coping on a low parapet, along with a cornice, cills, cill bands, stepped voussoirs, and quoins. The building has a double-pitched pantile roof with brick stacks at the gable ends and a double-depth plan. It stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range. The second floor has three 6-pane sashes, with a blind window in the center. The first and ground floors have 6/6-pane sashes, with two on the left of the ground floor featuring brick segmental arches and keystones. To the right, there is a wide carriage entrance with 20th-century brick jambs that support a fascia with a moulded cornice. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, in 1865, this building was known as Phelps's commercial hotel and posting house, and a photograph from that time shows the wall to be unpainted.
