Description
No. 5 Monmouth Street is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features stone labels and hoodmoulds. The roof is hipped and covered with zig-zag tiles, with brick stacks located to the right and rear of the building. The house has a double-depth plan and includes a range that steps forward on the left side. Designed in a domestic Tudor style, it stands two storeys high and has a two-window range. The first-floor windows are 2-light casements with margin panes, each having a semicircular top on the central pane, and are adorned with flat arches and label moulds. The ground floor openings feature gauged brick Tudor arches, with one window to the right and two to the left, each having hoodmoulds and Tudor arches framing the leaves. The projecting range to the left has double half-glazed doors that match the glazing style of the windows. The interior has not been inspected.
