Description
Upper Row Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 15th century, with alterations from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of random rubble and features double and triple Roman tile roofs, along with brick and ashlar stacks. The building is designed in a U-plan and has two storeys plus an attic. The south-west front consists of three bays, with 2-light moulded stone-mullioned windows and a central half-glazed door. Inside, there are chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, a fireplace with a broad wooden bressumer, and a former bread oven. The roof shows some smoke-blackened principals, suggesting that it was once part of a medieval hall house.
