Description
Masonic Hall and its associated buildings date from around 1800. The structure features painted rubble with dressed quoins, slate and double roman roofs, and coped verges. It is two stories high with two bays, showcasing sash windows with glazing bars set in plain stone surrounds, and two-light stone mullioned windows. The central door opening is topped by a wooden canopy supported on brackets, leading to a six-panelled door.
To the right, there is a three-story, seven-bay wing with openings on the first and second floors, featuring cambered head sashes and two-light stone mullion windows. A covered cloister walk runs along the ground floor, supported by slender stone Ionic columns. There is also a further three-story, six-bay wing set back to the right, which has two-light casement windows. The ground floor includes two elliptical archways. A projecting wing of lower height is located to the right, topped with an octagonal lantern that has eight semi-circular headed openings containing fixed light windows with glazing bars, and is surmounted by a lead-covered cupola. This building is part of a group with Sales House, which is associated with the former Convent of the Order of the Visitation.
