Description
This is a threshing barn, now used as a store, located 35 metres southwest of Bridge Farmhouse in Lydford-on-Fosse. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of coursed and squared lias stone with a triple Roman tile roof. The barn has a T-shaped plan and features a substantial design. The north front has a gabled central projecting wing with a breather in an elaborate dressed stone surround. There is a broad carriageway at ground level, framed by a chamfered dressed stone surround and topped with a cambered hood, which has paired plank doors. On either side of the wing, there are two-stage buttresses with offsets and additional breathers. The interior has a seven-bay layout with a king-post roof. A two-storey wing that is at right angles to the right of the north front is not included in this description.
