Description

Mill Close Farmhouse is a detached house, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of local grey lias stone, squared and cut, with dressings of Doulting stone. The roof is thatched, with a coped west gable, and features ashlar and rendered chimney stacks. The house follows an L-shaped plan and is single-storey with an attic. The south elevation has eight bays, with bays seven and eight being later additions. The windows are a mix of casements, with two-light rectangular leaded windows in bays two and three. Most other windows have horizontal bars. A mullioned window, with a plain surround, is set into the thatch of upper bay one, and a matching window is on the west gable. Bay six has an exposed timber lintel above a small casement window that also cuts into the roof. Boarded doors are located in bays one and four, the latter sheltered by a rustic timber and thatched porch. Later extensions are present at the rear of the property. A small three-light chamfer-mullioned timber window, with a wooden lintel, is also visible. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
