Description
Lovington Mill House and the attached mill date circa 1800. The house is constructed of local grey lias stone with Doulting stone dressings, featuring a simple clay tile roof with coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The three-storey house has three bays, with architraved windows now containing four-pane sashes. A central six-panel door is set within an architrave with a pediment hood. The house is linked to the mill by a short, tall wall. The mill itself is a two-storey structure with an attic, and four bays, with a lean-to on the south-east gable, abbutting the house and containing the entrance. At the north end of the west elevation is an elliptical wheel arch, where the water wheel was formerly located, alongside a smaller elliptical arch to the right; above these are small pane casement windows, with no windows in the lower bay. A single-storey section with an attic, projecting and extending on a curve under a pantiled roof, adjoins the mill from bay four of the outbuilding. The interior of the house and mill were not inspected during the listing process.
