Description

The Old Rectory is a detached house, originally the rectory for Alford, likely dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of local lias stone with squared blocks, featuring dressings of Ham stone. The roof is tiled with Roman pantiles and features coped gables, with an ashlar chimney stack on the west gable topped with a moulded cap. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and has four bays. It has ovolo-mould mullioned windows; the ground floor windows have hood moulds, and are mostly two-light, although the window in the first bay is three-light. The lower bay four has a casement window. Dormer windows with tiled roofs are present in bays one and three. A boarded door is set in a plain opening with a voussoired segmental arched head, situated between bays two and three. An Early 20th century oriel window is on the east gable at first floor level. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
