Description
The farmyard buildings located 35 metres north of the church date from the 19th century and include remnants of a demolished 17th-century manor house to the south. Constructed from local lias stone that is cut and squared, the buildings feature a double Roman clay tile roof with ornamental ridge and overhanging verges at the gables. The layout is in an 'L' shape, with one and two storeys that enclose the west and part of the north sides of the farmyard.
The west elevation is predominantly two storeys, featuring a low segmental arched doorway at the north end, followed by a three-light hollow chamfered mullioned window with a flat head and label, although one mullion is missing. Above this window is a loft door. Below, there are stable doors under a label and another loft door in a chamfered opening. Additionally, there is a full one-storey barn with central tall divided doors supported by a timber beam.
The east side includes a lean-to byre that runs the full length, which conceals a cambered arched doorway and other features. On the south face of the north wing, there is a four-light mullioned window with a label, with one mullion missing, and similar windows are found in the north elevation. This site is a notable example of a 19th-century model farm layout, enhanced by the presence of 17th-century fragments and its strong group value with the nearby church.
