Description
No. 7 New Street is a house in a terrace dating from the 18th century. The building is rendered and colourwashed over rubble, with a roof that is not visible from behind the parapet and features a brick chimney stack.
The exterior consists of two storeys and five bays, with a plinth, cornice, and a plain parapet. There are plain sash windows in plain segmental-arched openings, except for the lower bay 3, which has a 6-panel door that has been partially adapted with glazing. This door is topped with an ornamental rectangular fanlight and framed by a stone doorcase with attached Doric columns on a plinth, which supports an enriched triglyph frieze and a dentilled pediment. To the right of bay 5, there is another 6-panel door in a simpler surround featuring Doric pilasters, a plain entablature, and a pediment. Between bays 2 and 3, there is a lead downpipe and a stackhead of 18th-century pattern. The interior has not been inspected.
