Description

The Charles Moody coffin tomb, located in the churchyard 30 metres south of the Church of St. George, was created in 1847 by Moody of Frome. This tomb features an angular cast iron coffin that rests on a low stone plinth. Each face of the coffin is adorned with acanthus decoration in varying sizes, and there is a cross in relief on the top. A cast dedicatory inscription is present on each side of the tomb. It is noted that the panel on the north side has become detached as of the last survey in November 1983.
