Description
The Wool Hall is a 16th-century wool hall that has been restored in the 19th century and is now used as a store and house. It is built from rubble with pantile roofs and has a rectangular shape. A notable feature is the semi-circular headed archway over the entrance to the ground floor, which includes an exterior staircase with a rubble balustrade leading to a plank door on the first floor, sheltered by a pent-roofed porch. The ground floor entrance has double plank doors with decorative iron hinges. Inside, there is a 19th-century fireplace with a four-centred stone surround on the first floor, and a portion of the tie-beam roof likely dates back to the 16th century. The building was formerly associated with Beckington Castle.
