Description
This is a house and carriageway entrance, dating to approximately 1800 and later used as offices. The building is constructed with a rendered exterior imitating brickwork, featuring brick gable stacks and a slate roof with coped verges. Its facade is symmetrical, with three bays over three storeys. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars within their reveals. A recessed doorway (an aedicule) is centrally positioned, containing a six-panelled door. A stone molded eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are pilasters on each side. The building has a three-window return elevation facing Park Road. To the north, a broad, segmental stone archway is set within a rubble wall, forming the carriageway entrance. The group value context is that it contributes significantly to the character of the High Street.
