Description
Abbotsfield Lodge is a lodge built around 1872, designed by architect Owen Jones. The building features coursed squared red sandstone with white limestone and Ham stone dressings, along with quoins and a dentil cornice. It has a tiled roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles. The structure has two-storey gabled wings arranged in an "L" shape, with acroteria and a small pyramid-roofed tower at the angle. A flat-roofed porch is located on the south side, and there is a lean-to extension on the east that nearly completes a square shape. The ground floor has four-light splayed bay windows in the gable ends, while the upper floor features cross windows, some of which are transomed, along with two-light mullioned and transomed windows. Most windows have leaded panes, with some having rusticated surrounds and others topped with pediments. On the east side of the tower, there is a pedimented tablet displaying a coat of arms, likely belonging to Lacey Collard, for whom Abbotsfield was constructed.
