The Gardener'S Cottage, 90 Metres South Of Newton House

The Gardener's Cottage, located 90 metres south of Newton House, is an estate cottage dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings, topped with Welsh slates between coped gables and stone ridges, and features stone and brick chimney stacks. The building is designed in a 16th-century Gothic style and is a single storey with a gable attic. The west elevation includes a three-bay projecting gable and a three-bay extension to the south. The central gable features a moulded camber-arched doorway with a square label above it. On either side and above the doorway are two-light ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with diamond leaded panes and labels over the kneelers. The extension has matching windows in bays one and three, and bay two contains double boarded doors set in a moulded cambered arch under a square label.
