Description
The William Miles monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard next to the north chapel of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It dates back to 1797, with the earliest inscription dedicated to William Miles. The tomb is made of dressed stone and has an oval shape. It sits on a moulded plinth and features inscriptions on the north and south sides, which are flanked by decorative swags. The top of the tomb is stepped and cambered, with a moulded edge around its outer perimeter. This monument is noted for being of an unusual type.
