Description
The Ston Easton War Memorial, likely first erected in the mid-20th century, honors the men of the parish of Ston Easton, Somerset, who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.
This small memorial is made of granite and features a Latin cross on a tapering base. It is inscribed on three sides with lead lettering. The front face reads: "TO / THE GLORIOUS MEMORY / OF / THE OFFICERS AND MEN / OF STON EASTON PARISH / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES / IN THE WARS / OF / 1914-1919 - 1939 - 1945". The sides list the years "1914-1919" with five names and "1939-1945" with two names. The memorial is located by the roadside in a small rectangular area, which is enclosed at the rear and sides by a section of dry stone walling. The front and sides are bordered by stones set at regular intervals, which support a cast iron chain.
