Description
Ashleaf Lynwood is a row of three former almshouses located on Goose Street in Beckington. The buildings date from before 1670 and were rebuilt in 1846. They are constructed of random rubble with a double-Roman tile roof and feature three brick stacks. Designed in a Vernacular Revival style, the structure is two storeys high with three bays, each containing 3-light moulded stone mullioned windows that have stopped labels. The first-floor window of number 19 includes two leaded lights. There are three door openings with vertical plank doors, except for number 17, which has a half-glazed and panelled door, all set beneath wooden lintels. Above the door of number 19, there is a cast iron plaque with raised lettering that reads: "These 3 houses and gardens were the gift of Mrs. Ash, her son John, and William Iveleaf, about the year 1670 to the Charity School and Almshouses at Frome. Rebuilt by the Trustees A.D. 1846."
