Description

This is an early 19th century former inn, now a house, located on St Thomas Street. The building is rendered with colourwashing and has a double Roman clay tiled roof featuring a stepped coped gable on the east side and a plain gable on the west. Brick chimney stacks are positioned at the ends and between the bays.

The exterior is two storeys with a three-bay main range, distinguished by pilaster strips, and a lower two-bay extension to the left. The ground floor of the first bay has a sash window with sixteen panes. First-floor bays 3, 4, and 5 also have sash windows with sixteen panes. Ground-floor bay 3 has a 2-light casement window, as do the upper bays 1 and 2. Bays 4 and 5 comprise a former shop front with 2-light display windows, toplights, and a flush double door with a slim rectangular fanlight above. Plain pilasters and a slim fascia with a cornice supported by brackets are also part of the shop front. A pair of 19th century flush doors are found in bay 2, and a boarded door is set within a heavy frame to the right of bay 5. A lean-to extension is attached to the rear. The interior was not inspected.
