Description

The Poplars is a house dating from the 17th century with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with a double Roman tile roof and three brick ridge stacks. The house follows a cross passage plan. The two-storey, four-bay facade features 12-pane sash windows, some of which have been replaced, set in dressed stone surrounds. The windows to the right of the ground floor are paired, separated by a stone mullion. A half-glazed French window is located to the left of the ground floor, also with a dressed stone surround. The central bay contains a door with a moulded wooden architrave and a 20th-century half-glazed door. The interior retains a cross beam ceiling with chamfered beams, alongside two 18th-century doors.
