Description

This is a late 18th-century coach house and groom's house. Originally part of No. 29, Hamilton House, it may have become a separate property in the mid-19th century when Hamilton House became Stuckey’s Bank. The building is constructed of local stone rubble with ashlar stone quoins and dressings, and has a clay double Roman tile roof with simple gables. It is two storeys high and five bays wide. Bay 1 features 20th-century garage doors. Bay 2 has an elliptical arched doorway with voussoirs and a keystone, with circular windows above. Bay 3 incorporates a large elliptical coach arch, with a small, unlettered plaque above. Bay 4 contains a three-light leaded casement window set within an elliptical arch, with two similar two-light windows placed above. Bay 5 has a plain door within an elliptical archway.
