Description

This grotto was built around 1743 by John Scott for the Earl of Cork and Orrery. Constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble, it has a rectangular plan. The grotto features rough openings with wedge-shaped voussoirs forming pointed arches. It is located to the north northwest of Marston House, which itself is listed at Grade II on the Historic Parks and Gardens Register. The grotto's creation is documented in notes relating to the history of gardening at Marston House.
