Description
The Church of St Mary Magdalene is a parish church that dates back to the 12th century, with alterations made in the 16th century and further restoration and remodeling around 1880. It is constructed from Doulting rubble and features a plain tile roof. The church has a three-bay nave and a two-bay chancel, with a south chapel that connects to a south tower porch, which has a saddleback roof. The windows are restored trefoil-headed with flat labels, and the entrance boasts a fine 12th-century surround. Inside, the church has an 1880 interior with wagon roofs and a heavy chancel arch of two orders in the 14th-century style. There are sedilia with a matching aumbry, and the east window contains painted glass from 1880. The church also features a 13th-century font, a 12th-century figure on a cross in the south chapel, and a plaque commemorating Charles Bave from 1708.
