Description
Highbrooks is an 18th-century farmhouse located in Somerton. The building is constructed of local lias stone with squared cutting and Hamstone dressings. The roof is covered in plain clay tiles between stepped coped gables, with ashlar stone chimney stacks at the ends. The farmhouse has a ‘T’ shape, two storeys and an attic. The main three-bay section has a projecting central gable. A band course runs between the floors. The windows are 16-pane sashes, set within architraved surrounds. The returns of the projecting gable feature 8-pane sashes on both floors, and a small rectangular window is located in the attic gable. A lean-to extension is attached to the east gable. The west gable has a matching architraved window and a doorway set within an architraved surround with a flat hood, which potentially dates from an earlier period. The interior has not been inspected.
