Description
This is a coach house dating from the early 18th century, located on North Street in Ilminster. It is built from limestone rubble with Ham Hill stone dressings and features a single-pitch slate roof with stepped stone coping. The structure has two storeys and a one-window range on the gable end that faces the street. The roof slopes down to the left and is topped with an urn at the coping.
On the first floor, there is a square opening in the center that has a rough sill, jambs, and lintel, leading to a plain planked door. The ground floor includes 20th-century garage doors on the right and a wide planked door on the left, which has an overlight made up of two rows of five square panes.
To the right of the coach house, there is one of a pair of Ham Hill stone gate piers that serve as the rear entrance to The Vicarage on Court Barton. Each pier features a simple cornice and cap. Additionally, attached to the rear left corner of the coach house is a high brick wall in Flemish bond from the 18th century, approximately 30 meters long, which connects the coach house to the rear wing of No. 9 North Street.
