Description

This is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, situated on North Street in Ilminster. It is likely originally based on a three-room plan. The external appearance is of painted render over limestone rubble, with a plain tile roof extending to the adjacent property to the left. Brick stacks, featuring stepped stone coping, a moulded kneeler and a brick stack to the right gable end, are prominent. The house has two storeys and a two-window front. The first floor features a 19th-century three-light casement window on the left, and a 17th-century four-light casement window with wooden mullions and various glazing bars on the right. A 20th-century planked door is positioned in the centre, with a small blocked overlight. It is flanked by windows dating from around 1800, which are eight-pane sashes in forward frames. A low 20th-century planked door to the far left provides access to a passage serving properties at numbers 9 and 11. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
