Description

The buildings at 16, 17, and 18 Cornhill in Bridgwater are three shops dating from the early to mid-19th century. They are built in Flemish-bond brick, with stone stepped voussoirs and stone cills to the upper floors. The roofs are covered with double Roman tiles, with brick stacks on the right party walls of numbers 16 and 17, although the tiles on numbers 17 and 18 have been replaced in the 20th century. The buildings have double-depth plans and are each two windows wide. The upper floors feature 6/6-pane sash windows, most with horns. A fixed louvre occupies the lower sash of the first-floor left window in number 18. Number 16 has a wide dormer with paired plate-glass sash windows. The shopfronts are 20th-century replacements. The interiors have not been inspected.
