Description
The former rope walk, located about 65 metres south-east of the main building at Parrett Iron Works, dates from the 19th century and is now used as a byre. It is constructed of ham stone rubble and features a double Roman clay tiled roof. The structure consists of 20 bays, with timber posts and braced beams along the north-west side, and queen-post roof trusses. There are windows in the south-east wall, one for each bay, although all are now blocked, with some originally featuring cast iron grilles. This building is part of the significant engineering works established around 1855, and it is the second of two rope walks on the site.
