Description
This is a barn, likely originating in the medieval period, that is attached to the south side of Crane Farmhouse. It was linked to the farmhouse in the 17th century. The barn is constructed from local lias stone, which is well cut and squared, and laid almost dry, with some very thin stones. It features clay double Roman tiles and has plain gables. The structure consists of seven bays, with the center bay being wider. There are projecting buttressed porches on the east and west sides, each with tall doors and boarded gables. The west wall has high vents, and the south wall includes a vent shaped like an arrow slit. Inside, there is a stone flag floor. The original roof was destroyed by fire in the early 20th century.
